This topic is super powerful in the work that I do because by being a business owner you have to sell your product in order to make money, but a lot of people get hung up on the fact that they don’t want to have to sell.
I have a lot of people tell me they have no background in sales and for that reason they could never do my job. That got me wondering why having no sales background never held me back.
Before starting my business, I had no experience in sales, but I knew I could connect with people and form meaningful relationships. Once a solid relationship was built they would trust me and my recommendations and purchase from me. I looked at it as really simple and a lot of fun!
Then I went even deeper into my belief system and realized I have a belief that in order to truly receive the benefits from anything in your life you have to invest in it. Be that your time, money, or resources, it takes some kind of investment.
When people receive things for free I believe there is a lack of gratitude, they don’t seem to value it as much because they don’t have their skin in the game. By investing, you have an internal drive to make it work because you don’t want to waste your money.
The same would go for your time, if you are going to invest your time into something your want to ensure it is going to benefit you in some way, so you would put your heart and soul into it and ensure you tried your best to get the most out of it.
So when it comes to worrying that you would never succeed without selling skills,, think of it this way anything you do is going to require a exchange of energy and money is just another form of energy. I believe we are all sales people in our own way, when we love something and we are super passionate about how it can benefit others, we can’t help but sell it to others. That way they can benefit from it too.
If you are still a bit unsure about how selling is really not a swear word, another amazing way to look at it is your gifts need to be shared, your stories need to be told, your product and service can change someone’s life. There is someone even thousands of people needing to feel your energy, hear your story and connect with you. Why keep that from them? How would you sharing your story, struggles and gifts with them change their life?
I love using the word “sharing” instead of “selling” because truly that is the main principal of selling, sharing a product or service with someone you know will benefit them.
Stop telling yourself the lie that you aren’t a sales person and go out and share your awesomeness, the world needs more YOU.
